Legendary drummer Frank Beard, who anchored the iconic rock trio ZZ Top for over five decades, has passed away at age 77.
His publicist confirmed that Beard passed away peacefully at his Texas ranch while in hospice care, surrounded by his family.
Bandmate Billy Gibbons paid tribute, calling him an innovative drummer whose signature backbeat kept ZZ Top at the top.
Beard provided the driving beats behind classic global hits like "La Grange," "Sharp Dressed Man," and "Gimme All Your Lovin'".
Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, Beard earned massive acclaim across 15 studio albums.
ZZ Top canceled upcoming shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs, confirming plans to resume touring in Austin.
Paradoxically the only member of ZZ Top without a full beard, Frank Beard leaves behind an unforgettably legendary rhythmic legacy.
