The PGA Tour officially issued a six-month suspension to PGA Tour Champions member Matt Gogel for violating its Integrity Program rules.
An official investigation revealed that Gogel placed recreational sports wagers on golf competition events during 2024 and 2025.
The PGA Tour confirmed Gogel did not bet on any tournaments in which he participated or competed directly.
Gogel released a statement clarifying that he made an honest, unknowing mistake with small recreational wagers and cooperated fully.
The six-month ban took effect on August 23, 2026, and will keep Gogel sidelined from all tour-sanctioned events until February 22, 2027.
Prior to the suspension, Gogel ranked 20th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings with over $760,000 earned across 18 events this season.
The disciplinary action highlights the PGA Tour's strict zero-tolerance enforcement regarding sports betting policies for active players.
